The Process of the Evangelistic Christian Assembly
Missional church is definitely a buzz-phrase that is everywhere these days. the idea that we are obligated to label church buildings, missional, has always been a tiny bit different to me. please, shouldnt all churches be missional in their very core? it should be expected from a church, at its very core, yearn to connect their culture and neighborhood with the gospel as a missionary would in a different country? Isnt it what the bodies of Christ is encouraged to do in the great commission in Matthew 28:19? Our own hometown deserves this type of church. Churches in Austin is slowly gravitating to what Jesus instructed in the Gospels.
The Son of God gives the direction in Acts 1:8 saying, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 justifies this topic as, right before Jesus Christ leaves to go to Heaven, He directs the disciples on a exploration that would initiate right in their personal community. He begins with their local place of Jerusalem, and then stretches the call to the far parts of the globe.
As followers of Christ, we are not urged to loneliness, but to be missional followers of Jesus who are passionately going out and finding communities right where they are with the message of Jesus. We have observed this throughout history: God motivated Abraham on a mission to exit his home and his people and go to the land that God would show him (Gen. 12:1), God urges Moses on a exploration to save an enslaved people and lead them to joy (Exodus 3:8-10), God motivated Jesus on a story to earth to restore all things to Himself through the blood of Christ (Colossians 1:20). And now God is sending people on a journey to engage homes, cities, tribes, and even nations with the message of Jesus (Matt. 28:19 Mark 6:7 Luke 10:1 John 20:21 Acts 1:8). If we reject this urge and continue to display the churches like a members only country club ” urging that people resolve their act, pay their fees, and come to our sanctuary God will continue His mission without us.
